Education, Learning and Employment
Education & learning can be for anyone of any age in Slough. Young children can access 15 hours of free childcare/education from the term after their third birthday, they will attend a primary school between the ages of 4 to 5 and 11 and transfer to secondary school when they are 11. Once they are 16 they can stay on at school, go to college or take on an apprenticeship or job.
Adult learning can help you to develop your skills and move on - to join a full time course or to get you into employment. Courses at a range of levels are available throughout Slough at many local venues including Children's Centres, schools and community centres.
Getting into or staying in employment can sometimes be difficult, children or other family commitments may cause a concern. You may need some advice or support to manage all the issues involved; this may be through local groups or from national websites or helplines.
