EarlyBird

EarlyBird is a programme designed and owned by the National Autistic Society for parents/carers of pre-school children with s medical diagnosis of autism.  It is delivered under licence in Slough by members of the  Autism, Social Communication and Interaction Team within the Integrated Support Service

The EarlyBird programme is designed for parents/carers of children of pre-school age (non statutory school age).

The EarlyBird programme is designed to help families understand their child's autism, communicate with their child and understand their child's behaviour.  It is an insight into the world of the child.

The programme consists of group training sessions for parents/carers with individual home visits where video feedback is used to help parents/carers apply what they have learnt whilst working with their child. A weekly commitment to a 2 x 2 ½ hour training session or home visit and on-going support with their child is part of the three month programme. Two parents/carers from each family may attend the sessions.

Access to the EarlyBird programme is free of charge to parents and carers.

The delivery of the EarlyBird programme is monitored by the National Autistic Society.

All Earlybird practitioners have Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance.  This is available for you to see at any time.  All members of the Autism, Social Communication and Interaction Team have a photograph identification badge which they are required to wear at all times.
